Re: Re: Thanks torqueless I think you have cracked it. the dropouts are plain adjusterless sport type so I'm willing to gamble on it being a cassino.

    Holdsworth Frame Numbering

"As regards frame number 023533, yes I agree 1980 if going by the production volume graph. If you post some picture these other more knowledgeable contributors might be able to identify it." Hi dwscrimshaw I posted a question about my frame a while ago under the title "Claud Butler help needed"...

    Holdsworth Frame Numbering

Re: Hi thanks for the interesting posts, I think that they may help me to date my claud butler which seams not to match anything in any Claud Butler catalogue. The plain gauge 531 tubes and Prugnat lugs point to a holdsworth cyclone frame with the optional Campagnolo fork ends. The frame number...

    Weinmann brake blocks

I'm slowly rebuilding my 70/80s Claud Butler with weinmann 610/750 centre pull brakes and alloy rims. What is the best option regarding brake blocks. Should I go for nos or modern options? Any recommendations? As a rule I prefer function over looks.

    Bike pumps

Are bike pumps like wagon wheels?, not as big as they used to be? All the pumps I've seen online describe as large are 15 inch. The pegs on my Claud Butler are 17 inches apart. Anyone know of a source of extra large pumps?

    Advice needed pls!! Peugeot Pemiere

Re: For that money I would try and find a Reynolds 501 framed Ventoux. I paid £30 back in 2009, I guess prices have moved since then! Love the look of the lug less frame, the only thing is the helicomatic rear hub as it will be hard to find parts if you need to. Apart from that it all threads...

    Claud Butler help needed

Yes but I don't like clamp on shifters etc, so have to look at the cost of frame modifications. At least shifter mounts, a bottle mount and cable guides over the bottom bracket plus repaint. I might have to be a long term rolling rebuild. Also I'm not sure about what to fit it with, currently...

    Claud Butler help needed

I shoved some 700c wheels on last summer with a 5 speed freewheel a enjoyed riding it but was not happy with the look of the smaller wheels (25mm) and long reach brake. I have a nice pair Gipiemme Sprint hubs and a nice Regina 14/31 6 speed freewheel so may look for some 27inch rims and have ago...

    Claud Butler help needed

That's my thinking, looking at a 1980's claud butler majestic on ebay it looks very simular especially the holdworth sticker, but the rear brake cable runs over the top tube mine runs under with an exposed inner, and the rear dropouts are Suntour not Campagnolo like mine. Were Holdsworth making...

    Claud Butler help needed

Re: Re: That's my first thought, but despite studying loads of online catalogues I don't seam to be able to find anything that matches. It seams that few claud butler frames have seat tube pump pegs a though some models seam to offer a choice of dropouts etc so may be it was made to order up to...

Anybody looking for a tandem trike or solo trike?

Just been pass the local auction house in Bedale North Yorkshire, and spotted a pair of trikes in the window. Both AENDE not a make I'm familiar with. The tandem carries 531 decals, rear drum brakes on both wheels, stronglite cranks don't know about the gears as I could only see one side of...

    Tubular rims

Re: Re: The Mavics do look to be less pitted and appear to be very little used but 32 spokes are just sexier. So probably will build up the fiamme rims, just don't want to waste my time if the rim is shot.

    Tubular rims

Re: Thanks for the reply. I guess I should have worded the question better. I have two pairs of tubular rims, one pair are Fiamme 32h/36h currently mount on a Campagnolo 32h front hub and a Normandy large flange rear. The other pair are Mavic Monthlery 36h mounted on a Campagnolo rear and a...
