I got an RTS 2 and a Cannondale touring bike from Gumtree for bargain prices, but then accidentally paid well over the going rate for a Cannondale road bike on eBay a few months later. Swings and roundabouts!

Any idea what year that Apex is? I seem to remember one like that winning a MBUK rigid steel test around 1994/5/6 (!). A surprising amount of drool subsequently fell on those particular pages, and I've been after one ever since. Nice RTS too - have one very similar. Shame about the crack, but...

Leckhampton Hill is where I cut my mountain-biking teeth as a nipper in the late 80s and early 90s. Fond memories. I was walking there recently and it looks like there are now some purpose-built paths? Must take my RTS with me next time I go to see my folks.

I use a 1991 ST600 as my commuter, and it looks like a very similar frame. Yours looks great - can't believe what good condition it's in.

Any chance you could post a pic of how you've bodged the rear brake? Sounds like it might be the simplest solution!
