Removing Dent in Thin Steel Top Tube

I've had some success in the past by hammering / tapping on the top or bottom of the dent. Use a metal working hammer lightish weight to tap the raised area where the paint has chiped off in the OPs picture, whilst holding another hammer or a dolly (if you can get hold of one) on the bottom...

    is this fixable?

I bid on that. Nice frame and some good parts. I thought it was fixable, worst case scenario argos will repair or replace the drop out. But it's costly. I would second TIGing it. Glad that you're not binning the frame.

    69/96 er Retro's out there?

Here's my Ebay bankrupt Saracen frame that I converted to 69er I had to consider fork axle to crown so as not to mess up the geometry. I thin the A/C is 425mm. It rode well!

    spaying bike frames

I've recently used some Montana spray cans and had a reasonaly good result. The cans are good value from Ebay shops and are harder wearing than the car paint aerosols from the likes of Halfords which I've tried in the past. The paint is suitable for all surfaces including metal and is...

    Asymetric Chainstays Retro Kona

I'll give that a go. I can true the wheel so that it runs central in the seat stays but the wheel is slightly off centre on the chain stays. This is not by a huge amount maybe 3 - 5mm.

    Asymetric Chainstays Retro Kona

Hi Folks Could anyone tell me whether a 1993 Kona Cindercone would have asymetric chainstays? I built up a wheel, trued it central to the hub then fitted it in the frame and noticed that it wasn't central in the stays. Is this normal or are the stays bent? There's no sign of a bend...

    White Industries hub

Hi I have one of these hubs that I built up into a front wheel. I bought it very cheaply from Ebay. The hub will fit a standard 20 mm fork and use a standard calliper with a bit of fettling Contact Hope they will make you a disc rotor. However there may be some clearance issues...

Can I fit V-brakes to my 1993 Saracen?

Here are some close ups as promissed of my bankrupt Saracen frame. Before and after End result Some heat shrink (available from B&Q) added to keep the mud out. Be carefull of the paint. My thin layer of rattle can paint wasn't able to cope. Next job strip down and powder coat.

Can I fit V-brakes to my 1993 Saracen?

Yes it's a short length of outer. Took a bit of trial and error to get it to the correct length. About an inch and a 1/4.

Can I fit V-brakes to my 1993 Saracen?

I managed to fit V brakes to mine by moving the noodle that is attached to the frame. You need to get something like a ratchet bit holding screw driver without the bit in it to fit over the end of the noodle. Carefully bend the noodle so that it curls around the seat tube. This lines the...

A 2008 spec, 95 Kona Hahanna - Retro and not so retro

Yeah probably worth doing if you're stripping the frame. Disc tabs etc would make a neater job than the adaptor. I love these old Kona frames mines a 1993. It's a lovely ride great geometry and light weight too. Worth holding on to and modernising I think.
