    Brian Rourke

http://prollyisnotprobably.com/2012/04/ ... an-rourke/ As a Stokie away from Stoke it's surprisingly pleasant to hear a stoke accent.

    Help with insurance claim.

I've been pointed in the direction of Hilary Stones website and from there have managed to get a very rough estimate of everything but the groupset ie hubs, brakes, levers all the drive train stuff, bolts etc. I've guesstimated the nearest products from his stock the nearest products to mine...

You don't really get much more connected to that... Should I just list the components and see what sticks... I'm still no closer to getting a valuation really.

    Help with insurance claim.

Woz, lets draw a line under it there before it all gets silly shall we. ;) Interesting if it is, I could call up Raphacondorsharp and ask I suppose... My brother took the frame to both Rourkes and Swinnertons, at Swinnertons a guy came to meet my brother and told him about the frame...

    Help with insurance claim.

Well, after a nice chat with my broth I can confirm the bike isn't technically a rourke but sort of is... The frame was built by Paul Washington/washingham (my bro couldn't remember the name exactly) privately for the swinnertons, he was a frame builder at rourkes but built the frame outside...

    Help with insurance claim.

Well, they went to the financial trouble of using of using super record so it was clearly special to them. I've sent my brother off with the frame to Brians/Roys to see what they say. With any luck I'll know a bit more by the weekend.

    Help with insurance claim.

I'm a stokie myself as is all my family on both sides. I'm the one who's lost in Leeds everyone else is still in the area. In terms of the rivalry I honestly couldn't tell you, I'm only 23 so don't know it historically... I do know that when I needed a wheel trued over the summer I went into...

    Help with insurance claim.

I could get my brother to take the frame into them I guess? That'd prove most of this unanimously I guess. At 83 that makes the livery spurious, in 83 wasn't it called the Milk Race rather than tour of britain? The frame's pretty small, probably around 54-55cm top tube.

    Help with insurance claim.

My reasons for believing the frame to be to do with Roy is that the livery carries his name as a signature on the top tube and has a bracket for a number to be carried, Also that's who the rider my dad got the frame off told him he got it from. I called and spoke to Rourkes and they said they...

Just head back from my brother, the braising is all silver, or at least it's not bronze.

    Help with insurance claim.

Thanks for the tips, I'm waiting on a text back from my brother to find out if the braising on the Lugs is silver or bronze. So really I should forget who it was made by and prove unequivocally what the frame was made from? With regards to Woodrups, yeah I think they must just think I'm...

    Help with insurance claim.

Thanks, both. They've asked that I prove it's like for like value, that being for the whole bike, I however can't prove any sort of values unless I know exactly what it is I was riding. There's a marked difference between the value of 531c and 753 for example, like I initially believed the...

    Help with insurance claim.

Hello, recently I've been knocked off my bike and snapped the frame clean at the head tube and down tube, I also bent the bars and the forks and crushed the front wheel hitting a car door. I'm now going through hell trying to prove the origin and value of the bike for the insurance company...

    'Fake ' Pro riders bikes

A lot of the 80's era olyimpic team bikes were ultra-high end panasonic bikes repainted for each team, peugeot and raleigh were both "guilty" of this as were schwinn and one or two other notable big names that escape me at the minute. These tange framed bike were considered infinitely superior...

Good beginner frame for friction shift 12-14 speed build

Well a strange noise is coming from my Pug now, basically a knocking in the bottom bracket, add that to the bent bars, terrible brakes and non-standard seatpost and cranks and it's all starting to add up so I'm back on the hunt for parts to start hourding with due haste as I'm not too sure...

    What's what with road bikes?

Steel is luckily making something of a comeback, thanks mainly to the fixie crowd, which is nice because I personally can't stand the looks of carbon fibre. If you're just dipping your toes so to speak I'd set a budget of say £150 and try and get something in good nick with something like...

    Tour of Britain

I'd forgotten it was on today and saw the last minute of the highlights into wells, looks like there were plenty of crashes? Any videos? I missed it going through stoke too, at one point it was 10mins from my house and was meant to go past at 1ish, I read 13:00 and thought oh great, it's not...
