Can anyone help me identify my old Raleigh?

Yes, it was, blimey your eyes are good!...It was a tad big then even for my quite long legs, but unfortunately I had quite a bad coming together with a lorry and a kerb some time ago. Consequently, since coming back from serious injury I've changed my position quite a bit for comfort.

Can anyone help me identify my old Raleigh?

Ha ha, thanks....a tad too big for my 5 foot 8 and a bit frame!! The best thing ever is; my missus said "ooh that's cool, you should go for one of them" :D

My 'new' old 'gas-pipe' Raleigh Pursuit

Re: ....and I've just posted in the 'Road Wanted' section for a pair of gaskets/caps for my 105 aero levers, if anyone can help, cheers :) viewtopic.php?f=43&t=290703

    2x Shimano BL1051 aero lever gaskets/caps (?)

I'm guessing gaskets/caps is a near enough term. Don't have to be mint, but really good would do. For my resto, to avoid buying complete levers off ebay. I need both sides, not sure how much to offer cash wise, as per the forum rules. The plastic bit between lever and hood top. Cheers.

My 'new' old 'gas-pipe' Raleigh Pursuit

Re: So, I've been working hard the past few days, sorting the rear hub, trueing the rims and finally getting to grips with the paintwork. It was pretty filthy, so I've 'deep cleaned' it with a Meguiars Clay Bar. These are great, I've used one for some years on my old campervan and they are...

Can anyone help me identify my old Raleigh?

Re: Thanks both for the replies. The catalogue is terrific too, cheers. I may be waiting 'til the end of the month before pursuing, but know a heck of a lot more than I did 12 hours ago...cheers

Can anyone help me identify my old Raleigh?

Yes...just seen it..shhhh! :-) Looks quite rough, but a fair price. I'd like to view it and check that bottom bracket shell, but working unfortunately. I'll keep looking.\ Cheers, Andy!

Can anyone help me identify my old Raleigh?

That is terrific, thanks a lot...didn't expect such a conclusive and quick response ! I have a really unnatural fetish for the 'halcyon' Raleigh Panasonic days and therefore, this livery. Your bike is lovely. I will track a good one down....I uprated mine in the late 80's with Campagnolo Chorus...

Can anyone help me identify my old Raleigh?

As above....I sadly had to sell this in about '91 to pay a bl**dy Polltax bill and have regretted it ever since. I've seen various similar bikes with 'standard tubing'. Anyway, my current bike is going so well, that my good lady/pursekeeper has given me the go-ahead to do another :D I have...

    Polishing advice?

Agreed with above; the @ Kettlo polishing thread is terrific. Someone suggested on that thread, that it may be useful having a 'restoration' section. I agree with that . I came across it totally by accident, only after reading through lots of posts.

My 'new' old 'gas-pipe' Raleigh Pursuit

Thanks guys...it's turning into a labour of love. My missus certainly thinks so, as it's now part of the kitchen! The History Man, that's lovely, thanks for the link.....glad to see I'm not the only mad one in the world. I think this site confirmed that for me....and I'm pleasantly surprised at...

My 'new' old 'gas-pipe' Raleigh Pursuit

Of course. Ensure you purchase the small shiny tube, a bit like toothpaste. The other in the white plastic bottle isn't quite as good. Just apply with a soft cloth and rub. My rims were pants, so I had to spend hours. Buff with a cloth...job done.

My 'new' old 'gas-pipe' Raleigh Pursuit

Thank you, that is interesting, the sizing chart is terrific. I was told by my LBS, that this was incorrect when I put it to them and not to use 700c on 28 inch rims, so I didn't waste money trying. I hadn't seen this chart before and it looks pretty conclusive. Thank you again 8)
