Have you managed to break the cage away? If it's alloy or plastic it can almost certainly be broken away off the bolt, leaving the bolt head protruding enough for a pair of grips to remove it..?

Re: There are 1.1/4 thread less headsets, these are light alloy with sealed bearings, but your fork tube won't be long enough.

My workhorse has to work hard, i built it for it's tasks by shortening a GT Quatrefoil and fitting it with GT LTS/STS rear suspension, as a basis.

I have a pair of Tioga City Slicker tan walls on the Merlin, but i think they only produce all-black these days. Try 26in BMX/Jump/Trails bikes for your search - they tend to have pretty smooth treads and be more available with two-tone colours.

That's the first time i've seen a steel one. Probably more desirable today than back then. Otherwise.. i'm pretty much speechless!

Re: Yeah, that was me. Started off a red one in '04 with a 1.6 Felicia engine, various lumps in the blue one as i developed the 1.6 AFH, built the white one with the best set-up I'd found - all on various bike carbs. Had some fun times on that forum, good times at shows. Had a good track day...

Yeah, most are fine, just always the odd one doesn't have it pointing down.

I'm the man who bought a GT STS and junked the main-frame to use the rear suspension from it. So afaic it's fine.

If you put them on ebay with the GT LTS buzzwords they'll sell well. Bare frames go for over a ton and STS go for a couple of grand if well spec'd, but you really want to offer postage because collection-only will cost you an auction result dearly.

Re: This is my old one - I spent over 10yrs developing it, with sorted chassis and BCB 1.6 16v engine with cams and big bike carbs, it was nuts. Destroyed by a taxi driver 2yrs ago, almost killing me and my kid in the process.

Merlin Cycles UK are often confused with the more prestigious Merlin Cycles USA. Unfortunately this is a UK one.. built January '96. It's light, with a nice bit of spring to it. It has cast Ritchey dropouts and a few neat touches but it's signature is a twisted down tube (twist spira pattern)...

Re: Yeah, though mine had full '96 components, SLX kit and Mavic rims, think the shock was RST22 but forks were RockShox. Altus front derailleur was crank-mount and weighed a ton, I still have that as i managed to cram a low profile SLX post-mount under the swing-arm.
