Show us your (Marin) Boingers!

Re:

Sold this early in the year. Two brothers bought it, dunno what their plans were. It was proper mint.

Re:

Is that an ‘98 Alpine Trail? Looks in cracking condition. I’ve got the 98 Marin catalogue to hand! (Well thumbed).

There’s even a picture of the bearing set up in the catalogue as well which has saved me s whole load of washer conundrums.

Re:

Yeah, though mine had full '96 components, SLX kit and Mavic rims, think the shock was RST22 but forks were RockShox. Altus front derailleur was crank-mount and weighed a ton, I still have that as i managed to cram a low profile SLX post-mount under the swing-arm.

Re:

I knew I wanted a Mount Vision from the first Whyte interview and review but when I saw they had F16 bearings on the swing arm it was a done deal.

Re:

Thought i may as well add mine as this has popped up. this is nearly 2 years ago now and it has had some changes since then but not got any pics, it is not catalog, or period correct but i love it.

I think that’s a year 2000 Marin. Although I thought they’d all gone to discs on the rear swing arm by then - can’t see from the photo but it’s probably got the flat plate to add an adaptor I’d imagine.

What’s your plans for this one? Those forks look monsters!

I think they are original, just checked the other photos - so 98?

Well it was v cheap and I have been enjoying some downhills of late, so it was an impulse buy!
believe it or not this will be my first ever suspension bike, including front forks as my Pug isn’t on the road yet.

Some more pics, new wide bars and tiny stem

Ha ha! I have some Minions in the post ;)

Edit - and the more I see those bars the more they look like a tent pole! 810 is massive!

A little update, there is a bit of cable management to be done but it is nearly there
