Well, luckily, being the size of an elephant I have their memory retention skills and, yes, I do remember what the Overburys rode like (and the Dawes). The Dawes, with its' long wheelbase, was like riding a big comfy armchair. It wasn't quick, but it was comfy (spongy?). After the Dawes the...

Don't know how I missed this thread... but here is some of the BS I had years' ago (and still have, in the case of the Raleighs). Dawes Ranger. Not sure what year, maybe '86 or 87. 531ATB tubing and lonnnng wheelbase. Then I upgraded, in 1989, to an Overburys Pioneer. Columbus OR...

What are the Pro's and Con's of narrow rims?

I've got Campag Mirox on my Dyna-Tech 2070 (not sure how wide they are) and have some big tyres on, and they run fine. I've also got a pair of Campag K2s fitted to my Dyna-Tech MT5. They are definitely slimmer than the Miroxs', and are shod with Conti Vapor tyres. Again no problems with...

Raleigh Dyna Tech appreciation and information thread

I used a USE Alien 25mm seat post with a USE 25mm-26mm Shim on my MT5 and the local bike shop never had any problem with it.

    brooks saddle.

MM see you've put the pic of my other Dyna-Tech there. The saddle on that is a (Rare) Campagnolo Electa and I'd love to be able to get another one of those for the MT5. However now I'm recently 'saddled' (see what I did there?) with a mortgage for a new house buying bike stuff is on-hold. :(

    brooks saddle.

Thanks clockworkgazz for your thoughts on the saddle. I used the Brooks to replace a modern 'thing' that I originally had on the rebuild and which was like sitting on a knife. I thought the Brooks looked more 'retro' on the MT5. Still each to his own...

    brooks saddle.

I am very pleased with a Brooks Swift with Ti rails on my 1992 Dyna-Tech MT5. Nice and comfy, in-fact all of my retro bikes have Brooks saddles.

Raleigh Team colour MTBs - which tubesets?

Hi Gareth, I ordered a Dyna-Tech MTB frameset with 2070 tubing back in 1990 and specifically requested it in the (then) Team Colours. I'm still riding it today and I believe that other people also had theirs sprayed in these colours, as I have seem many variations of the blue and yellow (ie...

    dawes? yes or no?

I had a Dawes Ranger MTB (my first ever MTB). It had 531 ATB frame and three-piece 531 Tandem forks. It had a long wheelbase so was very comfy, but heavy to ride. I loved it and (like most Retrobikers about their first bikes, I guess) wish I'd kept it. Sold it on when I got a made-to-measure...

    Your 1st MTB

A Dawes Ranger with 531ATB frame and forks. Bit of a heavy old 'tank' but I'd love to still have it now.

    1992 Raleigh Dyna-Tech MT5 - Build completed, latest pics...

Unfortunately I haven't put very much off-road mileage on it at all as, on St Georges Day this year, I got married. So the MT5 is now a bit of a 'garage-Queen'. Luckily the wife likes cycling so, maybe, next summer we can do a bit of rough-stuff

    1992 Raleigh Dyna-Tech MT5 - Build completed, latest pics...

Have now removed the modern saddle and added my 'old' Brooks Swift (Ti rails). Recently the frame broke on this and Brooks kindly replaced the frame free-of-charge even though it was well-outside the two-year guarantee period. Apparently the rails on the early-produced saddles had a known...

Coolwall Nov 2010 - Campagnolo MTB groupsets

I've been running the Dyna-Tech 2070 with Campag Centaur groupset for 20 years now with no problems and it still looks great. I also managed, a few years ago, to get hold of some Campag Mirox rims to add, and they are fantastic. So, for me, Campag is COOL. I mean how many other companies...

I posted some images of a 1990 Bicycle Magazine article about Technium frames under the Raleigh Dyna-Tech appreciation and information thread. Here are the links to the pages. P1 - http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/files/ ... p1_406.jpg P2 - http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/files/ ...

Raleigh Dyna Tech appreciation and information thread

Nice to keep reading all the Dyna-Tech stuff here. Whilst sat at my PC the other day, and with some time on my hands, I cobbled-together the image below using an old Raleigh brochure, with the intention of making an iron-on transfer for a tee-shirt to wear when riding my MT5. I've ordered a...

Here are the first 3 pages of an article from a 1990 Bicycle mag (USA I think) about Technium frames, and in-particular, the Raleigh Technium Team 753. Last pages posted below.

brocklanders023, Looking at your frame photos and comparing it with my MT5 I notice a few differences. The cable-stops on the MT5 are on the top-tube for all the cables and the front-changer, therefore, is a top-pull type. On yours it looks like there is a cable-stop on the down-tube...
