Shims - they're just bits of tubing, right?

Re: Most stuff has already been said - but I'd like to add this. To some extent shims are just bits of metal yes. But you have to look at the application when deciding whether to use one. e.g. I have made shims in the past for handlebars - to get 25.4 mtb bars in a 26mm road stem for example...

Orange clockwork 10th anniversary - NEW PICTURES

Re: Re: OK cheers - I'll give you a shout if it goes that way. To be honest I want to have the f&f 'sold' before splitting the rest up so if there was one dibs call I wanted it is this one. I also have the original bits to complete the fuselage if you might be interested - black hot rod bars...

Orange clockwork 10th anniversary - NEW PICTURES

Re: Cheers Mark - will keep an eye out for your PM I should also add..... I have another full set of Paul brakes and levers so if you prefer all black or all silver then I can swap stuff about as necessary. My other set are black brakes and silver levers. I'd prefer to keep the silver...

Orange clockwork 10th anniversary - NEW PICTURES

Re: I'm in Cannock There are 2 chips down to metal on the f&f. Both are fine - protected with oil/wax for years. No spreading rust / worms under the paint etc.

Orange clockwork 10th anniversary - NEW PICTURES

Anyone want this before I split it up ? The thing is really sorted and rides flawlessly so best to check before I break it down. Bit of a marmite bike being neo retro but worth a shot before pulling it apart :) Orange clockwork 10th anniversary model in classic orange & white. 17"...

In need of an Orange Prestige / C16R / P7 frame

Re: I've got a 17" C16r I'd sell. It's frame only but I have all the orange specific stuff off it if needed - hot rod bars, sk8 stem, orange seatpost, enduro seat etc. Decent frame - no dents or cracks etc. Frame is silver and needs paint or powder. I had to use heat to get the BB out so the...

Novice single speeder with some annoying questions....

Re: The tensioner looks about right. Is the chain slipping a tooth on the rear sprocket when you really put some torque through it ? Also - is it a recycled 16t sprocket from a normal cassette ? If it's yes to both those then changing to a ss specific sprocket should fix it. The teeth are a...

Paint Spraying ... How To (part 1)

Re: Re: One coat of the high build primer filled those massive deep rust craters in this case - it would easily fill the sanding marks from 120. Happy to admit I do use a coarser grit than most people on bare metal though. Personal choice innit :)

Paint Spraying ... How To (part 1)

Re: Re: Fair enough. :) I hope anyone looking to follow the 'how to' will do more research on keying steel for primer now I've pointed it out. That was really the point of me posting on your thread tbh

Paint Spraying ... How To (part 1)

Re: Good write up :) Hopefully some constructive criticism won't offend ? You need to make more of a key before laying the primer on. The 1000 grit you used is way too fine to get a good key. Personally on that fork I would have gone with 80 grit first to get through the rust damage, then...

Re: I was bidding against you on the blue USE bar ends. If you decide not to use them let me know - the matching seatpost and bars on one of my bikes are lonely

Ritchey WCS carbon bars. FAKE or GENUINE??

Re: Yours look really dodgy to me. Knock off or factory rejects as has been suggested already. This is what the ends look like on my ritchey wcs trail carbon bars. Totally uniform thickness: And the centre section is much more textured:
