Hi all the new gear seems very fragile, the amount of mechanical's that happen on the tours. Why having 12 on the back is better than 10 or 9 or 8 , must be more is better? It's only possible to ride in one gear at a time. Anyway that's my 2 pence worth.

I know it sounds weird but have you tried boiling water on the outside of the shell and using a plumber freezer spray on the inside it might crack the seal of the parts to loosen it, enough to remove. No idea if it will work but least its better than the sledge hammer. Just a thought , I know...
