You've done an amazing job on this bike. The Ekla "D" fork crown and lugs (modified by Claud Butler) identify this as late 1940's. I haven't seen a frame later than 1950 with Eklas. I would like to put a front brake (lever and/or caliper) on the 1959 Claud Butler Coureur that I have just built up into a fixed-gear bicycle. I would like it to be aluminum and period-correct. Ashby, Webb, Radnalls, Burlite, Resilion, Lytaloy, Doherty, B&T, Powell and such are all candidates...

Thanks for sharing this. It looks-to-be a proper P. Barnard (brass?) head-badge. Percy built from 1930-60. All his frames were bespoke. have you tried to clean/restore this badge? You say it was found in Hungary?

Thank you. This is the information I needed. The frame is minus some braze-ons, in comparison to the Coureur advert, but that works well for me, as I will build this as a fixed-gear track frame. It'll be ready in the spring. Here it is a little more visible:

I can see small, bronze solder areas where the top-tube pump peg holes have been filled. I'll get some clearer (maybe outdoor) photos to you as soon as I complete the painting and get it fairly built. I'm going to make it my first fixed-gear, and have a nice set of Constrictor/Hardens for it...

I have what is apparently a C.B. but I can not identify the model. If anyone could specify which it is, it would be helpful. The fork ends and dropouts identify it as either a C.B. or Grubb from Holdsworth, and the serial number is not a Grubb number of that period. Some characteristics: No lamp...

Here are some photos of the Barnard as a complete bike. It rides great. It'll be at Eroica Britannia this year if the virus lets us alone.

I tried screwing the threaded tube in all the way and re-tightening the shaft nut at the other end. One problem is that I have to set the threaded tube out quite a ways to reach the 28T cog low gear on my 4-speed block. That is when I seem to be getting the tipping of the shaft/spring assembly...

I'm about to take some better photos. Thanks for the ideas.
