What's your Holy Grail among British frame builders?

Not yet. In my list, there is an open space between Cyril Wren and Dave Yates, and he finishes the filing.

    Claud Butler build

You've done an amazing job on this bike. The Ekla "D" fork crown and lugs (modified by Claud Butler) identify this as late 1940's. I haven't seen a frame later than 1950 with Eklas. The Gnutti chainset is so tasteful. The Brampton B8's are a great choice. Stratalite handlebars, too. I would just...

Wanted Single, Vintage Aluminum Brake Lever

I would like to put a front brake (lever and/or caliper) on the 1959 Claud Butler Coureur that I have just built up into a fixed-gear bicycle. I would like it to be aluminum and period-correct. Ashby, Webb, Radnalls, Burlite, Resilion, Lytaloy, Doherty, B&T, Powell and such are all candidates...

    Y.O.M for P. Barnard & Son?

Just a few more with some exchanges happening. Deep-drop Lauterwasser bars, GB girder stem, Simplex Touriste 303 mech and 27x1" tires. Also, an Adie bell (of course...).

    Y.O.M for P. Barnard & Son?

Thanks for sharing this. It looks-to-be a proper P. Barnard (brass?) head-badge. Percy built from 1930-60. All his frames were bespoke. have you tried to clean/restore this badge? You say it was found in Hungary?

    Claud Butler-Holdsworth frame numbers 1959-1976

Thank you. This is the information I needed. The frame is minus some braze-ons, in comparison to the Coureur advert, but that works well for me, as I will build this as a fixed-gear track frame. It'll be ready in the spring. Here it is a little more visible:

    Claud Butler-Holdsworth frame numbers 1959-1976

I can see small, bronze solder areas where the top-tube pump peg holes have been filled. I'll get some clearer (maybe outdoor) photos to you as soon as I complete the painting and get it fairly built. I'm going to make it my first fixed-gear, and have a nice set of Constrictor/Hardens for it...

    Claud Butler-Holdsworth frame numbers 1959-1976

I have what is apparently a C.B. but I can not identify the model. If anyone could specify which it is, it would be helpful. The fork ends and dropouts identify it as either a C.B. or Grubb from Holdsworth, and the serial number is not a Grubb number of that period. Some characteristics: No lamp...

    Y.O.M for P. Barnard & Son?

Here are some photos of the Barnard as a complete bike. It rides great. It'll be at Eroica Britannia this year if the virus lets us alone.

    Benelux Mk7 Issue

I tried screwing the threaded tube in all the way and re-tightening the shaft nut at the other end. One problem is that I have to set the threaded tube out quite a ways to reach the 28T cog low gear on my 4-speed block. That is when I seem to be getting the tipping of the shaft/spring assembly...

    Benelux Mk7 Issue

I'm trying to get my Grubb up and running, and noticed something wonky that that my Mk7 mech is doing: When I increase cable tension, the adjusting nut tips away from the body of the derailleur. If I try to re-tighten the adjusting nut, it simply compresses the springs more, and I'm left with...

    Y.O.M for P. Barnard & Son?

Re: Thanks for that, Terry. So it seems that Hilary was correct in citing my frameset at late 1940's. The placement of the mudguard eyes would go along with this. Their shop was not closed down nor converted to military supply manufacture during the war, because it was too small, so perhaps...

    Y.O.M for P. Barnard & Son?

Terry, I think I found the four-digit number that you cited. In these two pics, you will see that, along with the smaller-font 075 (which cor-responds to the bottom bracket number, there is a larger-font 1816. https://www.flickr.com/photos/150773913 ... ed-public/...

    Y.O.M for P. Barnard & Son?

Hello Terry, Thanks for replying. I am enclosing a photo of the under-side of the b.b. it looks to me like an 83 in larger font and then 075 in smaller. On the fork steerer tube was another number entirely, along with 075. I can get you that number if you want. Let me know if this...

    Y.O.M for P. Barnard & Son?

I was lucky enough to purchase a frame built by Percy Barnard, Brixton. the number is 075, and am wondering if anyone could supply me with a year-of-manufacture. I have some photos after re-spray, here. Thank you.
