Hey just found this wrecked GT with odyssey parts, can I save it......? Looks early 2000!

Slow progress didn't want to de-rust, so worked on some other things this weekend.
The chain ring is heavy, but solid only a few nicks and chips (Johnson 44T) , but overall cleaned up nice!
The Front brakes cleaned up nice, but have ordered some new mounting bolts and tiny lock nuts in black plus I'm still undecided about the original brake levers tech 77's. The Alu has been chewed up a tad, but I think I can either buy repo for £30.00 pair, or degrease and removal all paint, then sand down and finally respray, paint alone is about £26 for 2 cans!!
What to do.....? I could buy Shimano for less😂
At somepoint he/she must have lost a brake block at the front, as I found a rusty old BMX one, compared to the Yeystar ceramic shoes so I have three two rear only one at the front. 🥲
Can't seem to find them in the UK for reasonable money? Any help on this?

So little over 25hrs I did a small scale test of the cheap vs expensive vinegar.
I wanted to save this little seat clamp, double hex bolted and it was covered in rust.
The results the 35p Sinsburys came out on top (The longer bolt)
TBF I smelled them both and the cheaper one was like stripping my nose hairs, whilst the Sarsons made me wanted fish and chips!
Expensive one £1.60 was 5% acid and im guessing cheaper one was at least 7% which is why it made a better rust remover.
Each had 100ml measured and left over night 25hrs.
Also I used a wire brush to remove any debris.

acetic acid is what you want. it's made in vinegar and it's what gives it it's smell and taste. cheaper stuff tends to have a higher concentration of it because it's been distilled quicker and watered down.

Hey Novacaine!
It was just a test on the cheapest stuff I can buy 0.35P is not so bad for 570ml bottle plus Im at supermarket all the time.
I usually use wood bleach or Oxalic Acid, but its hard to get hold off and as you know prices have shot up.
Ive got some citric acid coming so Ill repeat the test with that stuff, but i've been given that stuff from a friend to try.
Acetic acid yes I can get some, but its also expensive like 2-3 pounds per litre plus delivery, might be stronger and quicker though?😀
