Today's Ride

About 30 miles near Castle Acre in Norfolk today. Mostly cross country and some unfortunate road miles. I say unfortunate as had two run ins with car drivers who had no concept of others being on the road. I count myself as a competent cyclist, I use my hand signals, know when to let others by etc. To the lady in the red Fiesta who drove at me and my buddy in either ignorance or anger - yes we are two men on bikes, you yelling “back off I’m a woman and you’re two men” having just made us take evasive action doesn’t cancel it out. We couldn’t back off as you’d driven at us to the point there was nowhere else to go! My only comment to her when she lowered her window was to go home and read the Highway Code. I mean “sorry I didn’t see you” would have sufficed and been much better than the immediate hysteria. Rant over, sorry.

Meant to add that Peddar’s way south of Castle Acre much nicer ride than north of the village. The north route has lots of deep ruts that can throw you off if you don’t keep perfectly in the middle.

Morning work rounds with my new work bike, tried out the new shed at the hospital. Usually just leave bike at the railings, but I have grown instantly fond of this one!

Then heading down to drop off all my spare batteries. Total of over 130Kg, which is a bit more than the Carry Freedom is rated for. Took it like a champ, though the rubber hitch bungee effect` got fairly extreme at times! Saved me when I stuffed it mounting a kerb and came off. Total train weight around 250Kg!

Not the picturesque banquet of lots of these daily rides featured, but bikes at work. Is that a thread?
