Great thread :)

Haven't unfortunately ridden all of the below, but I got the picture that in this particular thread it's about the looks and feeling of a certain brand/bike, not ride characteristics nor craftsmanship.

1. Klein
2. Trek
3. Alu Specialized
4. Pace
5. Parkpre

I'm sure many of the above are fine or even great bikes in many respects, but they just doesn't appeal to me on a personal level.

Mostly stuff that is only the high price it is/was because of the stickers - and that's most expensive stuff IMO/E.

The most disappointing bike I had was one of those box section Paces - always loved the looks. Bought one in the beautiful anodised red. Rode like a brick. Sold it in weeks.

Only ridden a couple of 'Dales - again nasty riding bikes - dead feel. (And this is not an anti-alu bias!)

Over-priced nostalgic steel in general. Especially the "made by Americans so must be better than those Taiwanese can do" (or even than a British craftsman can do) - a sort of racism really!

And Kleins - just about ANY bike can look as good with the right paint job!

I'll get me coat...

Gt's for me.......they strike me as an inattentive boys efforts in metalwork at school!......there, I said it...I will now go and sit in the corner disgraced.....

The point of this thread is that it purely heart not head descisions.

I love my Pace, I am not offended by the anti Pace comments, 'cos it does not make me love mine any less. Similarly just 'cos I have lots of things to do with £700 before I buy a Fat Chance does not make them bad bikes.

Great responses but remember guys'n gals. Keep it friendly. Humble pie tastes bad when you do get a Zaskar in 2 years time and LOVE IT!
