Your favourite 100mm fork with v mounts?

Older Fox Float RLC or F-series RLC mmmmm.

Some '08 model Fox F series forks came with v-brake and IS disc mounts.

If you aren't bothered with it being period correct then as the man says Fox are great. I have a few pairs on modern (& older) bikes. If money is really no object though why not get a modern frame designed to take advantage of the longer fork and leave the Rockhopper as is?

If you want more period know some slightly later Judys and SIDs were available with 100mm.

Pace? :? They're garbage. Always were, back in the day , and still are today. Get yourself some Foxes or Maguras. They'll do the trick.
Pace do look good though, so if you're a Canti Sniffer, they might suit, but if you like to ride your bike... :p

Pace  garbage.....must be right if ruben sayeth it ;) does that mean that everything I read in the daily trash newspapers is right too

Canti sniffer? lol .......nope. Still curious about the Pace forks though. Could be I need to tick that box for curiosity alone.

Cool turnout of suggestions! Seems my fiendish research mirrors them closely as I have been looking at Reba's and looking for Fox's with mounts already. Newish Sid's are a cool addition.

It's not so much like 'money's no object'. Just there is some money incoming and at first I thought, right, build a Cotic Soul from scratch with a Fox fork, Stan's rims/Hope pro 2 hubs and all the gobbins, xtr, carbon, bla bla (which would be financially possible), but then when I ride my (now 17" nitanium) Rockhopper it makes me smile a lot. Also feels like it hasn't topped out yet (at the mo with Z2 Atom Race and standard Ritchey OCR/Rock Comp wheels/ Dirt Masters/Controls), so before I shell out full on for a Soul build I thought I'd at least give the Hopper a last stand with 100mm proper sweet forks and lighter wheels (and Rocket Ron's) out of curiosity as much as anything else. Feels like it would be great with good quality 100mm's. I'd be buying the forks/wheels second hand, so if in the end the Rockhopper gets relegated and Soul build commences (or perhaps a 2007 Kona Hei Hei FS frame..... ) then so be it, sell the bits on, no problem.

Out of context thought: Can anyone quantify the difference in ride quality between a nitanium Rockhopper and something like a Soul in any way? Silly question, I know, but that Hopper is a lot of fun and will be very light too wheeled and forked up running 1x9.......

Im liking my Fox 2006 100X but are so hard to get them dialed in- but are working hassle free now :D

But still think Rockshoxs sids are the best alrounders

I've just acquired a new set of '09 SID Race as WD pro says - nice, can send you a link if you want?

I've also got a set of '08 Reba World Cup and they are very nice too, about 100g heavier than the SID's but lovely and smooth.

Either can be set at 80 or 100mm

Also got a set of '06 (I think) Fox F100 RL, nice and smooth and again can be adjusted from 100mm to 80mm if required. A bit heavier still.

All the disc or canti mounts ;)

The SIDs are are most modern, but very similar to the Reba really. there are pics of both in my sig on KK and ASR.

Depends on budget and what you want really. SIDs are new, cost abot £320 delivered, Reba WC worth about £200-ish and you could get a nice set of the Fox for about £150. I may even sell you mine ;)

Cheers

As I am new to these boingy forks so it's nice to see my choice of 09 SID's comes recommended

On One were selling them off at an incredible price but I think I got the last set :-(

WD :D

Nice bikes, Wadsy!!!

Been toying with a full susser with mounts....that Yeti looks nice! Beauty being I could swap the nice fork (and wheels if I stay with V's) between them then as well. Sorry, getting increasingly modern content here.....

Budget is going to be flexible in about a week or so, more thinking not too keen on buying new as it feels like throwing money away when selling on. Might have to start looking for some SID's or Reba World cup's......

Looks like the next two weeks will be hunting for forks, light V wheels and maaaaaybe a light FS frame with V bosses and then I could quickly swap between either bike being ready to ride depending on occasion without shelling out loads......hmmmm, getting a bit drippy from the mouth now

So when looking for forks I see lots of 80mm with bosses. Can it be that I have missed the fact that many of these may be changeable to 100mm, or is it just 100mm that can be changed down to 80mm?

Quite a few Rockshox forks can be altered travel wise by the addition/removal of an internal spacer they're known as All Travel forks, some OE ones aren't adjustable though

Reba's & Sids come in All Travel as well as OE versions, my Reba's can be set @ 85mm, 105mm & 115mm (also available in 80/100/120mm versions)

Motion Control damping is the standard damping on RS forks*, BlackBox is the pro spec damping which is supposed to be better than MoCo (*Turnkey damping is used on the lower end stuff & not on Reba's & Sid's)

Whilst Sid's are very lightweight for a modern fork they can be quite flexy compared to some modern forks
