Your favourite 100mm fork with v mounts?

Quite a few Rockshox forks can be altered travel wise by the addition/removal of an internal spacer they're known as All Travel forks, some OE ones aren't adjustable though

Reba's & Sids come in All Travel as well as OE versions, my Reba's can be set @ 85mm, 105mm & 115mm (also available in 80/100/120mm versions)

Motion Control damping is the standard damping on RS forks*, BlackBox is the pro spec damping which is supposed to be better than MoCo (*Turnkey damping is used on the lower end stuff & not on Reba's & Sid's)

Whilst Sid's are very lightweight for a modern fork they can be quite flexy compared to some modern forks

Nice info sum up!!! Cheers!!

So your Reba World Cup I assume has BlackBox damping, is stiffer than a SID, and not too much heavier.......seems an interesting proposition indeed. Thanks for the All Travel hint!! Much appreciated!

As I am new to these boingy forks so it's nice to see my choice of 09 SID's comes recommended

On One were selling them off at an incredible price but I think I got the last set :-(

WD :D

You may well have done, they didn't have any when I contacted them

Found mine in Hong Kong!

Nice bikes, Wadsy!!!

Been toying with a full susser with mounts....that Yeti looks nice! Beauty being I could swap the nice fork (and wheels if I stay with V's) between them then as well. Sorry, getting increasingly modern content here.....

Budget is going to be flexible in about a week or so, more thinking not too keen on buying new as it feels like throwing money away when selling on. Might have to start looking for some SID's or Reba World cup's......

Looks like the next two weeks will be hunting for forks, light V wheels and maaaaaybe a light FS frame with V bosses and then I could quickly swap between either bike being ready to ride depending on occasion without shelling out loads......hmmmm, getting a bit drippy from the mouth now

So when looking for forks I see lots of 80mm with bosses. Can it be that I have missed the fact that many of these may be changeable to 100mm, or is it just 100mm that can be changed down to 80mm?

Thanks :)

My plan was shared components between the AS-R and KK, but decided it was a bit too much hassle  it would work ok with wheels though I reckon.

The SID world cup (older 28mm version) has a max travel of 80, can be adjusted down with spacers (as has been said) although the spacers don't have to be 20mm ;)

The Reba WC (with carbon crown/steerer as SID wc) is 100mm to 80mm

The Fox, if you want 100mm you need to get an F100, the F80's cannot be adjusted up, the F100 can go down though ;)

I doubt very much that there would be any stiffness difference between the Reba WC and a 'new' (32mm) SID, but there would be to the older 28mm SID.

2000 ish Rond Magura Quake Air very light V or disk ally steerer very smooth :D

I'll second that, and also for 70mm travel, the a-c is only430mm, so good for old frames.

Cheers!!

Hmm, I think I feel like 'braking the rules' on the A2C front on purpose though....the Z2 I have now is 450-odd mm long and I kind of fancy the front up another centimeter or maybe even two to see what it would feel like. Which means all modern 100mm are game on A2C wise.

Not a brutal rider, weigh 75kg and the frame (Rockhopper 17" Nitanium) had one owner who almost only used it on road (and didn't exactly seem like a trasher, more like mouse...), so I don't think my safety will be affected.

Pace? :? They're garbage. Always were, back in the day , and still are today. Get yourself some Foxes or Maguras. They'll do the trick.
Pace do look good though, so if you're a Canti Sniffer, they might suit, but if you like to ride your bike... :p

Maybe you've tried a bad set? Must admit my 2005 RC40's were the plushest forks I've ever had. Never missed a beat when I had them and still doing fine service on my pals bike. I run 2007 Fox Floats at the moment. :D

Does anyone know if there ever were Reba U-turn air 85-115mm forks with v mounts? Could be useful, maybe for the bottom half on the Rockhopper, but most definitely if they end up migrating to another frame.....
