Your biggest overspend

Reading some of the above I am glad I am not the only one that doesn’t apply a budget to a hobby

My Cannondale project i'm doing now, has already gone over budget. But its going to be worth it, but if i ever do sell it will be only the frame i sell.

budgets are for accountants and the terminally dull. I just build to the spec in my head.

Not a budget as such but splashed much nicer parts than intended on my Pace RC200, I started off by buying an RC200 F5 which had been cracked and welded only a minor one and professionally done but it meant I got it cheap so I decided to only use the parts I had to build it, and only the tatty stuff at that but then as the bike started to come together I opened the NOS Box and it ended up like this:

And I have a feeling that the few tatty parts that are still on it will be replaced pretty soon! :roll:

Mine was my road bike, I bought a incomplete 70's Claude Butler for £10 with the aim of putting on new gears, wheels and tape on the bars target total was £60.

After seeing a frame on here I bought it and built this for £950

overspend £890

I started off wanting to re-retro my rts2, but after finding a crack on the bb, I set about buying a new frame, which turned into a nos team rts from the states. After starting the build with m95x in mind, I built it up, bought some spins, as much carbon fibre as I dared, then thought, hmm, wouldn't it look good with a carbon xtr rear mech, so after buying that, the m95x stuff looked out of place, so an m970 groupset later, and some new ceramic crossmax wheels, she was al l done. And with a spare m95x group set and spins left over, I bought another rts frame from the states and built that up. I'd hate to think what I spent, and it's probably criminal to day that I've barely ridden the team for fear of breaking it, but at the end of the day, I love how it turned out and enjoy a good pose in the summer.

I should have mentioned that I went through a good few forks before settling on the fox talas rlc forks, including some 98 SIDS, some new marzocchi marathons, some nos carbon cross links to name a few.

One expensive hobby, but no budget really as it is all about the end result (which sadly can almost always be improved upon).

Personally I never set a budget for a build because I know that I'd always go over it. I just carry on with a build until I'm satisfied that it's complete (for a short amount of time ).

My Trimble re-spray that i'm still waiting for is going to cost me a lot more

owes me 1000's!!!!!! still only a rolling chassis too!
this year it'll be done...... or maybe next year.....
