Your best ever bike

Best bike?

That's easy.....full custom build 18"ink blue Zaskar LE with lots of XT, Hope, USE and Pace bling. Even has USE suspension forks.

Was nicked in 1997

.....and I've been looking for another on and off ever since.

My RC200, was my dream bike ever since I first saw a Pace and I still smile every time I see it.

Yep, know the feeling well ;)

I was like that with my RTS, always wanted one since seeing the pic of the GT guy getting an RTS-1 crossed up on a jump (there is a scan of this pic in the Gallery & Archive).

No matter what bike it is, the feeling of owning your 'dream' bike is just amazing :D

it isnt the best equipped (my zaskar was that) or the lightest (my cannondale in SS trim took that honour) but it's the most fun. my kona lava dome - soon to be honoured with some pimping for being so good to me.

Sentimentally - my Dave Yates. It's the bike have had longest and ridden the most over the years....

But my De Rosa EL/record is really the bike that has to be my favourite. It was bought for a very low price when the importers were clearing out, and I bought it to be a winter bike.... First ride changed that view, even though I'd built it up with my summer castoffs. So my best kit came off the Lemond 853 which got relegated.

Balance and comfort are perfect. It has the "rarity" value of the modern-type Record ergos, in polished alloy, which were only made for the 97 season. Cartridge bearing front hub and ti-seatpin(a year "wrong" compared to rest of bike) which were also very short-lived. Everything on the bike is spot on, down to the 36H wheels with Revolution spokes.

My first ever decent bike, '91 Karakoram. Nicked after 5 weeks (hay, i was young and thick!). 18 months paper round money saved for that. Was red with white and blue paint flecks, 16" standard spec, porcs etc.

Police recovered it (along with 12 other Alpinestars / GT's / Marins) in some bstds garage, all crudely resprayed matt black - they had to give them all back to the bike thief due to "insufficient evidence". Come on..

So THAT's what i pay my council tax for!! (Rant etc)

Merlin Echo softail.

Maybe not the best I've ever owned, but by far the coolest. Such lovely details and in sloping top tube form, possibly one of only a coulple imported. And opnly built for one year, so probably pretty rare worldwide.

Lovely bike.

Only problem was that it 'thunked' every time the shock rebounded.

So pretty and swish though.

Wish i'd kept it.

my rigged ride would have to be a ride worthy of my taste lol  the orange prestige xtr and hope ti lemon x517 rims you get the pic

sus front only my woodman elite play bike who ya it was the sweetest singe speed ever made    :D

My Best bik ever is hard to say. The bike wich I owned the longest time is a Cannondale Killer V500, all the others left home after about half a year..... So it must be the best then........ :D

the worst bike will be easier....:)
