Young people who smoke cannabis

This shit should be kept away from teenagers

I agree.
But circumstances also play a part, and not everyone is going to end up on heroin.

eg The Netherlands. How do the teens there manage, or is it all just related in Broken Britain :?

Well, i am not really sure when it was the first time when i tried weed. I guess it was back when i was like 16 years old. After that, i been smoking like once per year or something like that, cannot tell that it is even occasionally. I was kind of afraid, that is why i was smoking that rarely. However since moving alone, 2 years ago, i started to consume weed pretty frequently. It is not like i smoke 10 gramms a day, no. It is like a joint per day, maybe 2 but not more.

It's like all drugs. Start small, and the 'dosage' steadily increased till you do an ounce a month.

Aye, wel done to you mate, giving up the tobacco is a real plus, especially like me if youve smoked for a while.

I think it depends on the person and the drug. Some of us have addiction genes I believe. Suspect that might be the case in my family so I don't touch any drugs and never have.

Some drugs like psychedelics don't seem to be addictive. Most people I've known do a few trips and leave it at that (often after a bad one or two).

I know plenty of long term cannabis smokers who never do it more than a couple of times a month. It's just a mellow way of spending the occasional evening to them. Equally, I know a few who've ended up with serious psychological problems inc paranoid schizophrenia and eventual suicide. Yeah, they might have been self-medicating - but it's hard to see a mate who was happy and productive become very ill all while puffing on some seriously strong cannabis.

Just need to kick the tobacco habit now, but I think I'll try the patches/gum rather than the cold turkey.

I've given up for a long time now (10 years+) but failed many times on patches, gum & will power. I know this sound like bullshit but I got that famous Allen Carr book Easy Way to Stop Smoking & it worked like magic. It actually tells you not to give up until you've finished the book. A lot of it is about the mind game of the addiction & it just makes sense. I've never read a book so fast just so I could get to the end & give up. It was actually hard NOT to give up half way through. Also got no withdrawal symptoms which the book tells you won't. Never had any pangs to start up again either. I gave it to another smoker who wanted to give up - he never got around to reading & still smokes. The Carr fella died of cancer from his years of smoking & there's a whole business in his name now doing courses but it's much cheaper & more practical to just read the book.

Yes I get it. Everyone is blaming cannabis when it's the abuse that does the real harm by the users. This should be our focus.

What of heroin or cocaine or even alcohol ? :?
