Yo Eddy (Kandy Wild Cherry) - Final Installment - 11th Dec

I bought the frame from Al (ti-fat-man) back in April. I couldn't resist the colour :roll: I'm trying to decide whether to try and 'tidy/touch' the frame up a bit or leave it nice and original :? It has original paint and decals so they will stay, just thinking of the odd touch up here and there.

I also bought from him a nice Syncros post and XTR M900 front mech

This is my planned spec...

Most parts have been sourced But there's a bit of work to be done

The Nukeproof rear wheel needs a new flange machining (in the pipeline)

The Mag 21 SL Ti's need a bit of work, welding and re-threading the boss..

And welding / re-drilling the cable hanger...

Then they can be prepped for spraying to match the frame.

Bontrager fork crown being prepped...

This will have a pace alloy 1" steerer fitted

Onza bars ends from the US (mfh126)

Grips to be confirmed...

Onza Porci-somethings probably with amberwall tyres

Or Ourys to match Psychos in butterscotch flavour

Xc - Pro Thumbies with gold alloy bolts (thanks Probolt )

Ringle stem - courtesy of Dr S

Titec Ti bar in rather nice condition from mfh126 over the pond

Chris King 1" No-threadset (ebay US)

XC - Pro Levers (new) - RB sourced (sorry, forgot who )

XC - Pro Canti brakes (new) ebay US (kuladeals) - purple alloys bolts from Probolt

Tyre choice...

Fat 'post clamp with bolt choice...

And lastly (for now) Ringle 'cage again from mfh126 - Mike's not done too bad out of me

Great colour, I'd leave it as is.

Nice selection of parts bar the nuke proof hub! Really looking forward to seeing it all come together

I think the butterscotch Psychos and matching Oury's will look stellar! Can't wait to see this one built, especially with the matching Mag 21's.

Little bit of progress!

Got the 'car' polishing kit out today and gave the frame a good going over Difficult to tell in the pics, but it's made a good improvement, the Kandy Wild Cherry really is a fantastic colour

Yes, I did polish and buff it 4 times :shock:

Reduced 'scratches' and much shinier...

With that done, I thought I'd start adding a few parts...

Headset pressed in...

Ringle 'cage and gold alloy bolts...

XC - Pro cantis with purple alloy bolts...

Also put on the front mech and popped in the seatpost/saddle...

I was then summoned in from the 'cave' to make myself presentable for guests :roll:

That's looking fab. The gold headset works perfectly with the 'Fat' lettering and bleeds well with the magenta.

The original plan was to go for XC-Pro as I had the shifters and levers and fancied doing a build with MD kit, but couldn't track down a MD chainset.

Then there were other considerations of hubs and cassettes. The route I've gone down seemed logical (and more 'accessible')

I'll see how it turns out, maybe I'll keep looking

Super sweet!

My '91 was originally *Kandy Wild Cherry* but after a bad crash I had it repainted black. In the crash I destroyed the Yo Eddy fork, and was set to switch to suspension (Mag 20s!) but noticed that there was a crack at the bottom of the head tube. We told Fat and no questions asked they offered to reweld the area and repaint free, return postage also included.

The thing was, I was told kandy colors (happy to see a bit of the gold fleck in your pics!) would be an upcharge. I should have had them repaint it in KWC, but I was poor and trying to save up $$ for the shocks and new stem/headset. So it went black........ I'd love to get it redone in the original colors.....
