Xtr levers for cantis and compatibility with v brakes

Hi

I have some lovely xtr levers and just upgrading from cantis to C's

Will the levers be compatible?

In short, no. V's need a lever that pulls twice as much cable. You can get away with it by fitting 'travel agents' to the V's.

Someone will say that you can run them with V's and all you have to do is set up the pads close to the rim. Do not believe them. You get a horribly mushy setup, with the levers usually hitting the bars...OK (ish) in the dry, lethal when wet.

hamster is absolutely right. Actually this setup will be a downgrade. If you want to keep the XTR levers i would get some proper cantis and set them up correct with lots of patience. Or get some V-brake levers for your V-brakes.

Xt's are excellent value for money but if you must have xtr then xtr 950/951 are about right

I believe that with that combo..when you change the brakes to v's you then need to split the combo levers...find the bar mounts for the shifters and also replace the levers.

I don't think you can get xtr v levers that will simply bolt on to the shifters

I'm sure someone will confirm or correct

You could get some separate mounts for your gear pods and then buy some separate V-brake levers or you could just sell them and buy some M950/951 integrated V-Brake levers and shifters like these:

That I have for sale ;)
