I must admit I've never been unable to look at the rear hub when I have had to find out what gear I'm in. But IF you cycle regularly with a neck brace it could be just the thing.

It is nice not having to look behind to see though, as its right in front of you.

When riding/racing at night they are pretty handy too.

Weight wise they weigh less than the comparative length of cable outer too.

I've never seen those before.
For me, the "right" gear is generally the one that FEELS best - as indicated by: My legs.

I spend even LESS time worrying about it on my singlespeeds.

Or am I just missing the point?

At least I could say that I had some XTR on my bike
