Would you split a retro bike rather than sell whole

I have a proflex animal with girvin forks and have made the decision to split as the forks go for around £150+, is it better to sell the whole bike complete or would you split. Think i would lose to much money selling whole.
What do you chaps do?

Re:

Hey buddy

Super simple one this:

Spilt = more money

Quite a bit more in my experience.

My Zaskar cost about £700 to build but is worth probably half that as a complete bike.

If I split I'd get nearer the full amount back.

People pay more for specific components as they can afford £20 to £150 on a single item and they get the exact thing they want.

My zaskar isn't to everyone's taste so they are getting some bits they want and some they'll change.

Don't get too emotionally attached at embrace the ebb and flow of trading.

Re:

Split, May be a bit of a faff and take time, and don't forget about postage costs either?

A full bike like your proflex only has a small market of buyers, but the parts have a much wider appeal.

IMHO Splitting it would give you a better chance of selling the sought after parts at a favourable price on your part but for the rest, might take a lil bit time or you can lower price.

I've seen 2 sellers last year on our local classifieds, animal and 85--- for about 500cad I think, I tried to negotiate on the parts I want , they didn't budge. Saw the ad for a while. I'm not sure if they were able to sell.

Its arrived today and its the best example ive seen for a while frame just has a few minor chips and needs a new animal decal.
Really unsure what i would get for bits, the xt mech looks brilliant no cosmetic damage and metal cogs have liitle wear, same with xt front mech.
Only downside are the mavis rims which have been eaten alive by the hs 2 brakes.
I know forks command a bit
