IMO, you shouldnt do it. Bit like putting XR3i stickers on the back of a normal Escort, you know, making it something it isn't.
However, having a frame with no decals is fine, but not period incorrect. Just IMO though

100% right.

I actually prefer the '98 to the '94 stickers, but prefer the 92/93 to both.

It's not false advertising though, you can't really say that the '94 frame was better or more exclusive than the '98 (if anything it's the other way round). Both are hand crafted beauties and reasonably rare.

And I'm the last person to ask. I've got 1991 frames with 80% 07/08 parts on

I certainly agree that it's your bike and the important thing is that you please yourself, but as a Kona fan myself I personally wouldn't do this, because it would look wrong because there was no gussetted ti Kona in 94 and I always think there's something dodgy about a bike that doesn't have a top tube decal.

Which looks better is just a matter of taste, but I think the 1998 decals were the best of the lot, as black is perfect with titanium, although 1994 do look a lot 'older' if you're trying to achieve the most retro look you can.

Put a great big 'RetroBike' sticker on the downtube... you then have originality  , class  and a guaranteed talking point... ;)

Creates a talking point though when you put an RB sticker on a 2007 bike!

BITD I put some RS Turbo bits and pieces onto my XR2, now that was fun playing with people at the traffic lights!

Yes, I was immature, but I loved it!
