would i be mad to sell

hi guys n gals
been giving this some thought since last weeks iconno...
i displayed three of my best bikes... red cannondale bote ridgeback 605 comp series and my gorgeous red rourke...also into the mix is my sbike503 from the previous year...

one of my main reasons is lack of space at home and the ever increasing close calls ive had damaging them getting them in and out for the little use they see...

if you were at last sundays iconno and viewed them i think you will know what i mean about damaging them as they are not only quite rare but in magnificent nick....

another reason is they stop me from taking on new builds which is stopping me somewhat from carrying on with my passion and hobby :?

If you find they are too good to ride then sell them. I do keep one bike which I don't ride, Yeti ARC on Ringle hubs, but the rest are used.

Maybe keep your favourite but sell the rest to make room for/ fund more builds.

If they are your best bikes wouldnt it be better to sell off some of your other bikes to make room? or maybe find some way to store them out of the way, hanging them up etc

Of course only you can decide, but if you really cant find a way and you want other bikes then just do it, live now, regret later :)

Get a couple of hangars and remove the pedals and turn the bars then mount them on the wall. You can get a bike quite flat and only takes a couple of minutes to reassemble.

Re:

cheers guys, i hear you both... with regards to selling my other bikes im quite stuck there also as they were going to be my next projects... you see the thing is i find old retro rides that need either a bit of tlc or total restos back to former glory....currently waiting in the wings is a 89 grey smoke effect fillet brazed jamis diablo which is complete and original with the mountain lx groupset , granted its a low range groupset but was only around for one year so its another rarity, or is it...

the fact that i will never find another rourke or ridgeback 605 or even may be a cannondale or sbike 503 means im going to have to give it some serious thought...

in the wings waiting... jamis diablo...marin light palisades trail...raleigh technium the heat...also have a specialized p3 in near mint nick that is staying with me always...a dawes rough trade in lime green, 400lx groupo that looks like its never turned a wheel and have never seen another

Ive got a BOTE splatter frame and forks if your wanting more projects

I meant above the current bikes in your storage lol. Mind you I do have a mate that for some reason mounted a mid range whistle on the wall in his kitchen. And got away with it. Don't ask how. I wouldn't mind relieving you of the Marin though if it would help your issue.

Re:

ha ha ha a whistle on the kitchen wall. what ever next. may take you up on the marin, it is a project though. its black with an orange rear triangle. ... has the full xt groupset, zoom stem and x lite bars. also has the rockstar forks. the only problem is the orange rear triangle, the paint has faded on the non drive side.. just clicked its not a palisades trail its a pine mountain... think its this zolatone paint people keep on about

Very few (if any) Cannondales are truly 'rare'. I'd start there. I've seen enough SBikes, so I'm not convinced they're deeply rare.
The Rourke looks pretty cool. Not familiar with them as the only Rourke we have here is Mickey.

If there isn't a monetary reason for selling them, have you considered a local vintage friendly bike shop to 'display' them? A shop you trust that'll let them hang in the rafters on the shop floor for others to enjoy?

If that isn't an option, keep the one rides the best. If all you're going to do is look at it, take really good photos of the and look at it on your computer, sell the bike.
