Worthy of Restoration ?????

I believe them to be the original levers as it had these on when I got it but the rear is broken where the gear shifter attaches and it had a seperate shifter added.
Also the whole groupset on this bike is Exage ES.

Okay, rims were odd but just scored another front wheel that will need to be stripped down and the rim laced onto my original rear hub to give me a matching pair of Araya VP-20 rims (as original ) on original hubs. Only a couple of parts to find and then I'm away and all will be as original.
Needing some help with the year to be honest.

Anybody got a Shimano Exage ES dual SIS brake lever with 7-speed quickfire (rear) they are willing to part with?

Here's the front one:

Whats wrong with the ones that you have?

Incidently - with a bit of jiggery 'pooky' you can fit other shifters to those Exage levers that you have there.

This pic should explain what's wrong with the one I have:

I wonder how hard you have to press to make that happen?

This stuff doesn't turn up so often. It doesn't fetch the money worthy of visiting the post office, so it doesn't get put on eBay.

Try posting in wanted.

More than likely something went wrong with the shifter and it was replaced with a separate and the bracket cut off. I've done that to a few STI sets myself but they were tidier jobs than that.

I guess I must have deemed it worthy as I have tracked down the full Exage groupset now, and an Araya VP-20 rim to replace the nonoriginal on the rear wheel, just gotta get my hands on a full decal set before I strip the frame and head off to the powder coaters!!!

good luck with this, your unlikely to get a torrent of support but i have put together and helped put together a couple of sentimental bikes and it creates a huge amount of satisfaction and rolls back the years.

I will be interested to see it rebuilt

two steps to a retro bike experience for me

1) rebuilding your old bike if you have it, or making a replica
2) spend all your savings on bikes you wanted BITD.
