Worst Bike I Ever Had

A thread to bemoan the sh#t bikes that have passed through your hands.

The worst bike I ever had was a Dawes Galaxy, circa 1980. EVERYTHING went wrong with this bike. Wheels went to pieces, Saddle gave up, left hand crank hole went oval. But worst of all I discovered a hole under the top tube lug, which of course had filled with rust. And then another one at the bracket... Rust appeared in every possible nook and cranny.

It went to the landfill, in pieces. The only thing I could salvage was the Suntour derailleur and levers. The bloke at our local bike recycling wouldn't take it. Ten years later he tried to sell me another one. I politely declined the offer!

The worst bike I ever had.....🤐🤣

Had a lot of bikes that didn't quite fit as retro sizing wise I'm was between a 20 and 18 inch. The bikes would either suit MTB (1:cool: or touring (20), but not both. Had a few bikes that died before their time which wasn't my fault - two broken Kirk frames, a cracked BB shell on a Dawes Ranger.

The worst bike 🚲 ever had...

Raleigh Arena that my dad bought down the pub for 25 quid. My dad said it was 'new'. It stayed this metallic blue colour for about 25 days, then the rust set in. I don't know whether there was any undercoat on these frames at all, but I have never seen anything so cheaply or crudely put together. Everything spot welded onto it ...!

The Ever Ready lamp was the best thing on it.

Marin Muirwoods mid 2000's "Urban" bike - Not sure if this was the worst I've ever had but it was the most disappointing. On paper it should have been a good bike but it always seemed to be less than the sum of it's parts.
