Well, I don't like Cavendish for the same reason why I didn't like Cipollini or Petacchi. However, I'm so happy England won the worlds!

Well done guys (even if you were sitting in front of the TV with a can of lager on your belly)!

Compliments from Italy!

Yes, fantastic ride from the Brits - were you eating pasta with your mum when you saw it? (if we're going down the line of national stereotypes..)

Well, I don't like people who withdraw in front of a hill ...

what about climbers or rouleurs who dont take part in the sprint?

they tend not to withdraw in a multiple week tour ;)

Thumbs up for Cav though, winning this race with so much preasure on him (again), the best sprinter at this moment by a landslide.

Well... I doubt Cipollini would have beaten him... Such a shame that great sprinters come once every 10 years...

Bit harsh on Cavendish, he's won the last three final stages in Paris which suggests he can manage the odd hill or two.

A brilliant win for the Great Britain team which bodes well for the Olympics albeit with a smaller team for that event.
As for Cav, every time somebody says 'Cav can't win on uphill finishes' or 'Cav can't win without Renshaw, Eisel et al' he proves them all wrong by going out and winning whatever it is they said he couldn't win. Perhaps the best thing that could happen is for his detractors to keep up the 'Cav can't win the Olympics' rant which would ensure that he will win it.

I'll just accept him for what he is - the best sprinter the world has ever seen.

Absolutely. I just don't like sprinters, my personal taste, I tend to admire climbers. When I used to play tennis nobody liked Ivan Lendl, who was a real champion, but not very spectacular, while Noah was the most popular guy, a serve and volley player who only won one Grand Slam tournament.

I was speaking about sprinters tho, not Cavendish in particular. I spoke about Cipollini and Petacchi, too...

Cavendish is a real professional, not so much because he won the final stage of the Tour de France, but because he's consistently been winning for the whole year, a thing you can't say even about the best Contador. I don't like him as a rider, but his World Championship has been a masterpiece.

This post just made my day!

Awsome display by GB, and Cav's finish was stunning! He clearly doesn't need a leadout to win like some people suggest.
I did think all was lost with around 600m left to go, I couldn't even see him in the aerial shot, I am still shocked by the way he won.
Nice to see Wiggo going well too. :D Love that guy!
