Wooden rimmed Reliance

Only experience I have of wooden rims is through one of my grandfathers bikes. He acquired it with rims full of woodworm and had to replace them. It was a long time ago and I remember him needing washers for the nipples and that the wheels needed attention at least every year depending on the humidity as they went out of true.
