Why no love for Marin?

I ride a Marin sometimes,

That's such a great looking bike :) I had a few Marins when I was a kid, started with a Muirwoods, then a Bear Valley SE... Excellent bikes. Love the new 'Aggro XC' hardtails like the Rocky Ridge too.

They are the unsung work horses of our world.
They are great bikes. My only concern is possibly the lack of mud clearance on earlier models, but that seemed to be fairly common in the early days of US bikes.
They had a cool ethos of bike building. Great quality, relaxed geometry and lightweight components.
See below for a real working bike that never murmers despite all the hammering and lack of sympathy I give it.
True love...

That's a real typical Marin (and owner!)

Simple bike, unobtrusive, stealthy. Don't make a fuss or any big noise.

As I understand it, Whyte and Marin now work closely together and the Whyte E5 has a rear quad that is identical to the one on some Marins.

I've always thought of Whyte a being quality so their being happy to work with Marin speaks volumes to me.

Plenty of love for Marin here!. Looking for a mid 90's cromoly Marin to replace my stolen Eldridge Grade (see other thread). Agree with what others have said on here: quality, no fuss machines,

I love Marins, Only last week I pulled my early 90's Eldridge Grade from the shed, gave it a clean, added some new bits and it looks fantastic. These bikes may be old but they are superb performers. I will be using mine next year to cycle from John O Groats to Lands End.Unless someone makes me a rediculous offer for it.

I love my Team Marin - so much so that every time I've ever thought about getting a new bike I can't justify it as I'd always want to ride the Team.

It's light, responsive and looks great - even 13 or so years on.

I think the Team is a special bike though - it was at the time and models lower down were just good value bikes without the niche element that other bikes had. For a lot of us I guess we like retro bikes as they were the bikes we used to desire but could never have and now we can. I guess I am lucky in having the bike of my dreams (long story as to how I got it) and can't bear the thought of riding anything else.
Mind you I wouldn't mind a recent full susser as my climbing is great (thanks to the Team) but downhill I'm a wimp.

Dave
