Why did Pace stop making square tube frames ? They really were works of art, alittle harsh over bumps maybe but much better than the current pace line.

cost probably
plus the were made in yorkshire rather than the far east, so could be
volumes too

not the appeal in the modern stuff for me
but nice bikes nontheless

Pace

Their welder emigrated and they couldn't get another with the required skills at a reasonable rate of pay to be able to sell them at a competitive price.
They also broke very frequently indeed!!!!

Because they kept breaking?

I'd love an original pace frame but im not sure i could afford to replace it ,when it seems the inevitable cracks appear :?
Damn nice to look at though

My RC303 outperforms my RC200 on every level. Apart from visually.

Pace

They broke as they were never re heat treated after welding! To save costs! Also as the tybes were so rigid all the stress went into the joints, TBH they were really badly engineered and made that way to sell being something different to the norm, bit like Kleins with the fancy paint, but poorly engineered frames.

Yeah dont get me wrong the new pace frames are great and nicely made, I was really refering to the looks of the new frames they just dont stand out from other manufacturers bikes enough now for me.
