WHY building a bike for my daughter

Bit of a thread resurrection.

But here is the (work in progress) finished article.

Just a year late, and just about build in time for my daughter's 10th birthday.

The "to do" list:

Swap out the tyres, I fitted my slicks to get it finished.
Keep an eye out for a nicer set of V's - these are a miss-matched set.
Find a nice set of 8 speed shifters - currently using 7 speed on an 8 speed wheel.
Sort cable lengths at the same time as sorting the above.

All in it stands me at approx £130 which, all things considered is a much better bike than anything I could buy off the shelf for that price.

Cool
This is a nice thread, your daughter is very lucky. A lot of dads would of just spent 10mins in the nearest Halfords!
She doesnt happen to have a brother who would like a matching red one does she...?

Seriously though, good job. Looks great.

Thanks. She does have a younger brother, but he's only 3 so still a little short for that one. If I wasn't so skint I would seriously be considering it as a future bike for him though.

:D Looking good.
I really enjoyed building my sons bike, a bit easier for me though because I had most of the parts from my unused hardtail, which I just put on a smaller frame. ;)

I have a full set of Tektro V brakes incl, Levers for sale here if your interested. Everything you need except the cables.

Ideally I'm after a set of silver coloured Vs, but thanks for the link.
