whos running 2x10?

Thinking of changing my transmission to 2 x 10.
Getting the full 3 x 9 on my '99 FSR is a pig so looking to resolve this and lose some weight in the process.
Anyone done this and still doing it now?

Yep, have been for some years and see no reason to change. Not sure how much weight you will lose as its only really one less cog at the front but then you end up with a bigger one at the back.

The set up seems to work really well and you rarely run out of gears.

if your cranks are 10 speed triple, then just lose the outer ring, or replace with a bashring. I have 2x8 on my parkpre (because I already had all of the parts and wanted to use thumbies), and like it a lot. I think I have 24 (or 26) and 38t rings with a 12-28 cassette.

I'm 2x9 on my GT avalanche. middleburn duo. I've got some shifter issues with the rear mech, but that's poor workmanship, not the fault of the equipment

I've just gone back to 2x10 from 1x10 after Glentress tried to kill me, getting overtaken on the climbs by less fit mates was no fun!.

What were you running up front?

It's all about 1x10 mate, get yourself a clutch mech, large range cassette and a narrow wide chainring and you won't look back!

here is my current set up on my half built new bike

that's a 30t chainring with a 36 on the back...
