Have a venture over into the Events & Area Groups section and look for any 'Aftermath' threads. You'll see plenty of nice old bikes being ridden in all manner of conditions.

Yep, all bikes in all weathers. Lot's of retro metal on show in the picture including mine, dumped on the floor!

Might think twice if I had something reeeaaally special though.
