Be good to get someone from the other side of the pond to take a view......sometimes the fact that it's an export (in low numbers and rare) adds to the mystique and cult.......I don't know if a RC100 would invoke similar status over in the USA for example???
Love to hear any informed opinons from across the pond?

If only it were possible to actually have a shootout between a Fat and a number of British framed bikes , all identically equipped , without knowing who made them , I wonder which brand would come out on top ? :?
Just a thought .

They don't have to be identically equipped.

I ride all my bikes on the same ten mile 'test track', which has enough mixed terrain to tell me a lot about the bike.

A couple of weeks ago I thought I had built a real dog, as I rode a recently finished 2002 DeKerf around my track. However, it quickly became apparent that the tyres were the issue. A change of tyres and two days later it was like riding a different bike, and much more what I was expecting. Had I taken my first ride on less familiar ground, I could have been left with a very different impression of the bike.

If anyone wants to bring a Fat to the test track, you can accompany me on one of my other bikes and we can see what's what.

On that subject; my first ride on my 1994 DeKerf Mountain was a real eye opener, as it is a completely different ride to most of my British built bikes.

It's always nice to be surprised.

This is so difficult as there is arguably not even a US equivalent.

Also, it does a builder an injustice to place worth in the equation because look at Kleins vs. a small handmade boutique bike builder like Paul Sadoff. One sells for like tenfold more than the other but does that make it a Rock Lobster not as nice? I completely disagree that monetary resale value is a good indicator of quality and beauty. And if some British builder's bikes doesn't sell for as much as a Fat, that really doesn't say anything to me, personally.

Those Zinns that sinnerman posted are drop dead gorgeous and I love seeing them. Personally, I rather get one of those rather than a Pace which I would never get for some reason - no offense intended as I'm sure they are lovely as many of you guys love and appreciate them. Maybe it's a organic vs. industrial feel to them?

Anyway....sorry for blabbing on and on....

- yeah ... right!

It's one thing to be patriotic to the U.S frame houses, I myself have a soft spot for British frames, but did you stop to think before you made your comment .....am I going to make myself look a bit daft ?
