Which is the best mid nienties hard tail mountain bike?

Another quest to identify the definitive XYZ based on nothig more than human subjectivity, personal viewpoints, and rose tints

Steel?
Aluminium?
Ti?
Composites?

XC?
The then emerging breed of more hardcore Hardtails?

Depends on the criteria you judge against. It would be nigh on impossible to get overwhelming consensus on just one bike or probably even majority agreement on a top 10.

My bias would take me to a Pace RC200, but thats all it is, a bias based on limited personal experience coupled with the lust for the different in life at a time when I couldn't afford an Indian fire trail, I didn't lust for one, I wanted for a Pace at 3 times the cost of an IFT.

I can only assume you have some personal link with a Fire Trail, otherwise you'd have chosen something "better"

good point...........in that it depends on your experience! As you have guessed I have an indian fire trail and...........bearing in mind in my limited world I am greatly impressed by tha,t I wonder if anyone who has also experienced the same is even more impressed by another. If you follow my drift?

Its replace my bike time and I'm wondering whether to venture to something better............whatever that might be, bear with me your views are much appreciated

i think the kona,s had the edge there, the aluminium marins were also very nice but my fave looking ones were kleins and cannondales, oversize frames just made the steel bikes look weedy although i loved my trek 7000zx (until i discovered trek y bikes)

Ah, I think what you really want to know is which mid-nineties hardtail is best for you...

In which case it's not mine, cuz you can't have it :p
