Which Dynatech???

Russell

Old School Grand Master
I can't tell them apart because the lugs were the same on all the steel models and I'm unaware of any subtle differences that there may be.

Frame serial number A32016.

Assuming that the '..16' at the end designates the size, anyone know if you can tell the model number from the 'A320..'?

Might help if other Dynatech owners posted their model and serial numbers to see if there is a pattern?

Thank you

:)

Erm... I think that the letter at the front is the year, A being '90, so C would be '93?

The rest of it is a mystery though.

Hello Russell,

I know I should have been 'on it' with this question but I had to check my facts first. So, here goes.

Raleigh Special Products Division measured everything metric. So it is very un-likely that the 16 deontes the frame size.

Frame numbers for my past and present Dyna Techs:-

C21157 1992 MT4 Titanium 47cm (18")
C82109 1992 Quantum Tiatnium 49cm (19")
C44109 1993 Titanuim road bike, unknown frame 57cm*
C82143 1993 405Ti road bike 57cm

*was a warranty replacement, seat pin size and lugh work corresponds to either a 625Ti or a 725Ti

As you can see there is no discernable patten that I can see (maybe Bletchley Park can help!)

The fact that they are all 'C' designated and all Titanuim may mean that yours is steel. These are actual frame numbers stamped into the BB shell, not the Hologram Number.

My 1991 Odyssey (steel) and 1992 DiabloDX (ti) have stamped numbers
beginning 'B' and 'C' respectively. My 1990 Encounter (steel) isn't
accessible unfortunately. My 1994 MTrax Ti4000 is 'E' suffix. So year
code is as a previous poster suggests, it seems.

The Odyssey (steel) and DiabloDX (ti) have hologram numbers
beginning 'AA' then four numbers, and are only a few hundred apart.

The steel frames came in three main flavours - 2055 (twin-stay), 2060
and 2070 (monostay). I've yet to compare my 2060 (Encounter) and
2070 (Odyssey) to see any differences (aside from frame colour).

So where are we then.

A='90, B='91, C=92 etc, but the rest of the numbers are still a mystery.

The frame is deffo steel, and has a wishbone seatstay (mono-stay) I should probably have said that at the start, so its either a 2060 or 2070...

But, wasn't there a 2050 steel frame?

There was a 2055 - but that was twin-stay (Sentinel model). At least
that's what's in my 1991 catalogue. I think 1990 models were similar
as my 1990 Encounter is almost identical to a 1991 version, just
different decals and groupset bits. Pre 1990, I've no idea - when
did bonded Dyna-Tech's start?

The numbers after the letter would just be sequential I'd have thought.
Raleigh were making a lot of frames each year back in the early
nineties.
