Where to buy a rear derailleur helicoil kit?

I am concerned about the strength of my old rear hanger thread and am thinking of putting a helicoil in it

Anyone point me to a sensibly priced kit?

Found one on amazon for £9 but that seems too cheap

errr, okay LBS has got back to and reckon the hanger is too thin to helicoil - it is 6mm

thoughts/comments?

The part itself is cheap, its having a drill press to squarely remove the damage and a tap to cut the new thread that tends to be costly, unless you want one of the basic ones that simply pushes into the drilled out hole from the back and uses the mech to hold itself in place. The trouble with these is you need to have suitable rear mech to dropout clearance so they do not foul up. Most oldies will be fine but newer stuff is often a touch close.

That's what I thought after reading first post.

Usually need a thickness of about 1 to 1.25 times diameter to make sure the helicoil doesn't wind itself out while you are trying to get the mech bolt in.

Frame saver is probably a better bet. If you want it to be "permanent" a bit of bearing fit/loctite around it's outside diameter will help hold it in place.
Unfortunately, drilling out the thread may weaken what's left.

Bitd we would have used a dropout saver, some dropouts were not threaded so there were plenty about. Either that or saw off the hanger and use a replacement removable one.

M10 x 1, is that the correct size?

Can you weld or braze/solder the hole and rethread.
