Where did you buy your first bike?

Re:

Dawes tracker from Mike's bike's in Cambridge and after I killed that I brought my first Orange from maggets in diss in 93

Saracen Traverse from Stonehenge Cycles in Salisbury in the 1991 January sale (all my savings + xmas money + birthday money + 20% off at the shop). I don't think there is a corner of the New Forest that bike hasn't seen. It's now rusting in a skip somewhere (thanks Mum). I loved that bike....

I had bikes before, but this was my first decent MTB:

Dave mellor, now thats a blast from the past. Me and my mate used to get the train from Nantwich to Shrewsbury to get bits from there in the mid 90's

Dave's still going strong. I popped into his shop last autumn when I was back in the UK and he still has largely the same staff as he did in 1990!

I bought my Marin (and another for the gf) in 1995 from Channels, just outside Chelmsford.

The guy that ran it was called Mick. It's long gone now - but I seem to recall it was a converted shipping container beside a man-made lake, that had a dirt track around it for test rides.

First bike I bought with my own money was a 96 GT Backwoods from Congleton Cycle Centre early in 97. The shop has moved but still going. It was like alladins cave in there, crammed with stuff. Great wee shop.

Bit of a triggers broom but thst GT was still going strong until my sister lost it to thieving monkeys a couple of years ago.

After my parents bought me a Peugot Ranger  this gave me the determination to get something decent so I saved up my pocket money, weekend work and did odd jobs, on my birthday November 89 put a deposit on a MBK Tracker Hi-Tec at Berkshire Cycles and finally got my hands on it when they opened after Christmas paying £550 in total, worked hard to get that bike, so proud! Never seen another :|
