WHEN WILL KLEIN BE BACK??

Looks like you've got a tough job here  FWIW I reckon it would be a fair idea. Trek could do a lot worse than cash in on the Klein heritage it bought. Create a brand within a brand that upheld the original Klein ideas and it would sell. Would it sell to us on here? Maybe.. but we are probably not the market they would target. Personally I think it would have to be done right and not just pap something out to cash in on the name ala the FAT Chancer debacle. Salsa have managed to retain some creditability whilst being a division of a big bad company, fair enough they have no resemblance or relation to the original company but they do alright.

Interesting point mikee, you have original Zaskars a carbon Zaskar and a reissue. Timeline aside i.e they were all presented to you in 93 or whatever which is best?

Klein means a lot to those who are into the older ones.

The brand does not mean so much to everyone else.

Therefore the only easy route to market is the nostalgia path.

If there were hand made Klein in all manner of custom forms, featuring great and innovative twists on the modern MTB, I am sure there would be a market.

If there were $1000 Adroit replicas I am certain they would sell like hotcakes.

What way to go?

Easy answer, the only way the Klein faithful could be persuaded to pay out would be the direct involvement of the man himself.

The badge conscious would happily throw out a grand to wear the style, but no more than that.

:)

The new Rolls Royces. Very fine cars apparently, not Rolls Royces to me.

The new Mini, see above.

The new Klein? Another big ditto.

They would sell but not actually be the real thing. The man himself has moved on in his life and that's that.

task and i were discussing this just yesterday , there's a lot that makes up a bike ,in the defining how it feels thing , handling, climbing ,descending , then theres this bit that is fun ,enjoyment gelling call it what you will , and i'm sure you being a bikee like me know what i'm on about , its tha t undefinable thing that elevates a bike above the norm
some of its personal predujice i'm sure ,but theres an element of it that is ,dunno just ....well
as to your zaskar question , the carbon is the best i've ridden ,its a kin missile , it inspires confidence the re-issue is in the loft not sure what to build it with , so gonna leave it there
the bitd zaskars are just brilliant bikes ,but not for every one ,how ever for me they built the reputation that still exists today

big question is who designed the zaskar ,hans had a major input , but who signed of the first one ?

Bike in the picture is a niner carbon -mcr?

Imho I think Klein left out the back door. I lusted after a new Klein and I got a 2009 attitude. That is a nice bike but I don't feel it has much place in modern trail riding.
Welds are nice and smooth, retains a bit of heritage but it's not moved with the times in the ride.

I also went the same route (as example) with a yeti arc. Now that is a great bike. The ride is not as twitchy as the original. Looks similar to the original but it's not some pinpoint race bike like the Klein.

So if Klein was to be regurgitated into 2012. I would hope they looked ahead when they designed it. And make it so when you lose the cable in the downtube the cable magically appears at the bottom.

I have a 1990 attitude and 1991 arc to compare

why's garry making telescops these days ?

The light that travels to us from distant stars takes millions of years to get here so when you look at them through a telescope you're looking well in to the past.

Perfect solution, if you want to look at the past, buy a Gary Klein telescope.
