Oh dear, 5 days to go and at £200 already is this going to be a record for a cracked Marin? Even better though is the question asked:

Q: hello thats a super super rare frame there. I would not sell it if I were you. These are a three figure production run 1990/91 frame. Will only increase in value. My suggestion get it off ebay, have it serviced, greased and rapped and get it out again in 10 years. Dont have your reserve under £500. Have to think of the projected and the current value. Propper rare in the honest sense of rare. nice one. Micky 09-Aug-09
A: ok thanks for your oppinion

what I really like is the fact that the word 'proper' is spelt with two p's in the middle in the question, and the word 'opinion' is spelt with two p's in the answer - coincidence, hmmmmm.

hmmmmm I think not :p

shill bidding at it's finest...or is it worst

strange....my question as to is it a Manitou or Marin has not shown on the eBay listing. wonder why??

Potentially got the bit about will only increase in value right as scrap aluminium is at rock bottom and has been for a while at around 25 cents a lb (potentially making the frame worth a dollar):

 amazing.

wish there was a way to notify the bidders...oh well :?

funny thing is, despite all I've said, I think that the buyers/bidders are at fault as well for several reasons: not coming on here and doing research, not knowing that a Manitou wouldnt have 1 1/8" headtube or A-pro hanger and for bidding on a frame that's cracked on a structural point. I would however rather that the shill bidding meant that he ended up selling to himself...

there are people who buy old bikes with no intention of riding them, so structural damage may not be of concern to them.

Yes, there is some fault to be given to the buyers/bidders, but most of the fault lies with the seller for being a scammer. Not everyone is internet savy enough to thoroughly research an old bike, even with google, yet they know how to click bid on ebay.

I'm not into blaming the victims of a fraud, though they could be more careful.
