Re:

Try Dan (cannondaleking on here) at handcraftedwheels.co.uk

I sent him rims, and used hubs, and some new nipples, he supplied the spokes and built some fantastic wheels with a quick turn around time.

My local wheelbuilders wouldn't touch anythng that wasn't brand new, and supplied by them, their loss!

I think build cost was £25 per wheel (Labour only), but best to contact him and he'll help you out ;)

Don't you fancy building some wheels yourself? I have just ordered the rims & front Hub, after I have measured them I will order spokes and rear hub and have a go myself. It will work out at £83 for a front XT Disc hub and rear XT rim brake hub, Mavic X317 rims with DT Swiss spokes/nipples - all new parts.

I am going this route as I don't want a disc hub on the back but I do on the front, I want XT hubs in the same colour and matching rims but I still need rim brake capability on the rear wheel. Can't find them on the shelf and none of the LBS can accommodate all my requirements (black front hub and silver rear was the closest anyone got) and if I have to source the parts I may as well put them together :).

There is also Wills Wheels in Heaton Chapel, Stockport, not been there for years but I had a few sets of wheels built by them about 15 years ago, infact I am still using one set they supplied.

Re:

I do my own nowadays after getting rediculous prices local to me.

I did a bit of research in to spoke calculators to make sure I got correct lengths and then looked at wheel building guides.

it's very rewarding and great satisfaction to do it yourself
