Whats your defense against chainSuck?

Been using self amalgamating tape for years, goes on and comes off easy with no residue and best of all does the job, cheap too

Also use clear glueless puncture patches to stick on the frame to prevent cable rub

Giving all my best tips away here

I used to go for the innertube wrap
Slice it down its length and open it out.
The first wrap needs to be stretched and overlap the start, thet way no cable tie or tape is needed as it holds itself in place.
Continue wrapping down the length of the chainstay with a 1/2"-3/4" overlap[creates a nice rolling pattern :D]
When you get to the end you can secure it with a couple of ties.

I think people are getting confused between chainsuck and chainslap.
The OP was talking about chainsuck which can happen if you have elevated chainstays or not. It's the chain getting stuck on the bottom of the chainring and attempting to travel around the chainring instead of traveling towards the rear mech. While you obviously don't get frame damage on an E-Stay bike it can still jam.

yes I had a '96 GT LTS2 - terrible chain suck - frame is quite knarled from that but as soon as I cleaned the chain rings it stopped instantly. Even light dirt sometimes caused it.

I had a problem with chainsuck on my modern full susser, until I installed a slightly wider BB axle, which gave a better alignment on the drive and a gap that the chain won't stick in, should it fall off. Funny thing is, it hardly ever falls off anymore, now that the drive is aligned properly.

Installing a set of M950 cranks. Maybe it's the slightly larger chainrings, maybe it's the chainring shaping & coating, but whatever it is I haven't chainsucked once on these cranks.

non worn chain, rings and cluster.

i read a ned overend comment once "if i ever suck a chain, i replace it immediately"
