Whats Your Best Tip Find?

Marvel

Old School Hero
Dumping some garden rubbish at the weekend and had a look where they put bikes expecting the usual and found this. Apparently it's a 1991 Kona Explosif re-sprayed to look like a 1993 bike.

I thought it had been re-sprayed as I cant find any pics of this colour scheme. It looks professional if it has been though with a very gradual fade from silver to blue from front to back with all the original decals and air-brushed stars.
It's still got the XT rear mech, head set, changers and levers. Front mech is a DX. Not sure about the pedals, brakes and chainset but I think they are XT too. The stem is an un-worn Flexstem but I think it's cracked although I have a spare so might change it. The seat post and bars are USE with Answer bar ends. The only kippered parts are the grips and saddle which was a leather Selle.
Not sure what to do with it now as it's a bit big for me. Don't really want to sell it as it'll just get broken for parts which would be a shame.
So whats your best tip find?

1992 Specialised S Works, full XTR and USE seatpost. £7. Without wheels.

Boy_Burning has it now.

the list endless but highlights have often been roadie bits - Campagnolo Shamal wheels, Delta brakes and many a high quality road frame.

MTB has been a Cindercone, Nikolai BMxTB, Stumpjumpers, too much...

A 90's Carrera Monza, not found in a skip, more like languishing behind the industrial Biffa Bins for several weeks...

I'm surprised Marvel even bothered starting this thread, we all know once LGF's posted we will all feel pwned

A few years ago I found a Marin Pine Mountain, an alloy framed Dawes and a pair of XT hubbed wheels at my local tip. No one was around so got them for nothing

Everything just goes in the metal skip at our tip and is smashed up  .

Recycling? No, just a bloody waste.

I have had a Diamond Back Ascent and Muddy Fox Courier Comp from the scrap yard though. They pull all the bikes out and sell them for a tenner, doubling the weigh-in price I guess. Everyone's a winner. :D

Same at our tip though I did manage to retrieve a childs bike that just needed new pedals. Was great for my youngest to learn on and has now been recycled to friends.

Might be worth speaking to the guys at the local dumps to set up a bike area as they do for fridges etc. certainly an eco case to be made and I would have thought they'd be interested in a (private) commercial arrangement.

Leaps into car and drives to dump...
