what year is this lava dome?

I just bought a lava dome as pictured for 19 euro.

I´m guessing it´s a 94-96, but it´s black, or perhaps wery dark grey metallic.
frame number is 9723.
I´m 100% sure it´s not resprayed.

That confuses me a bit, shouldn´t it be either green, dark blue or orange?

It looks a bit naughty in the pictures, but it´ll be alright once it´s cleaned up.

Looks like a 94 to me but stand to be corrected. As far as I recall they were all available in black metallic as an option so I'd say the paint is original. Same colour as my 92 Explosif.

Yeah, more likely 94 than 95 comparing to my 94 hahanna.

I thought that 94's had the lettering in metallic silver. Mine does (but it's in the familiar metallic green paint.)

i had a green 94 with them same cranks, i think the 95 had stx, so my money is on 94 too, everything else looks right for 94

It's not a '94, I know this because my mate had a brand new '94 and it was all mettalic green.

Almost certainly it is a 1994 frame, but the black paint scheme will have been a variation chosen for your home market (you don't say where you're from?)
The Velocity stem and Project 2 fork are both 1994 items, and that very often dates the frame.
The decals are also 1994 and are in the correct position, which non-factory applications seldom achieve, so it is probably original paint.
The number you gave isn't the serial number - you would find that nearby, rather more faintly stamped, and that will tell us when the frame was built.
