what tool to remove 1990 xt cranks (FC-M730-SG)

is there a specific tool to remove xt cranks (square), previous crank threaded because crank removal tool was slightly to small;

does anybody know the thread size of the xt crank

errr, to remove square taper cranks you need a crank extractor tool.......if however the threads in the crank to be removed are stripped, you need................................an angle grinder :twisted:

just cut through the BB to remove the crank from the bike and then the BB can be removed as per normal...........I've had to do it a couple of times on some 'quality' purchases that came with 'cranks included' :roll:

any normal crank puller will do. just don't forget to remove the washer inside the crank arm before you install the tool...

Yep, any normal crank extactor, even when they switched to low profile cranks (with square taper bb) use the same tool.
