A few months ago, bought a '94 Clockwork as a slow burn project and after some inspiration from you guys as to what to do with it. Got some RC35s already, its got mainly an STC RC group but with deore thumbshifters. Its the black one with orange decals, will put a pic on later. Any ideas??

It is being ridden, that's why its a slow burner. It does need a respray and new decals
at some point though. I don't think the groupset is original hence the thumb shifters.
I thought STX RC came after 94 but I can't remember. I am sure some one will correct
me if I am wrong.

It's all personal preference bud, personally I'd have it rigid with an F7 fork and if it needs respraying anyway think about nickel plating it, it'll be about £70ish which depending on who's painting it for you will either be a similar price or way cheaper.

On the groupset side of things I'd swap it all out for XT, sounds extreme but as Stx RC bits sell quite well here and on eBay you'll probably find once you've sold your old bits it won't have cost you much to do.

Staf.

Needing a picture then :D

Nickel plating on a clockwork, don't think they ever came nickel plated but that's not to matter.

IF you want to lighten it then look for what's heavy. But without knowing what on there it hard to tell.

Does anything need replacing ?
What sort of riding do you do. Commuting, road riding. Sunday rides around the country. Big hill? Peaks, Lakes, Snowdonia, Scotland ? Or stick to these modern premade centres ?

Agree with above, we need pictures! If it's getting a re-spray then I'd go for grey, black, or orange/white fade all with the classic decals  Thought about doing a white one myself.

With the groupset I'd go for the usual DX or XT. I also like the black LX on a Clockwork. If you've got the Pace then you may as well use 'em ;)

Buy another cheap frame. Swap all the bits off the clockwork (allways good to get more experience in building bikes). Get the clockwork painted up and swap the gear back onto it, leaving bit's you've upgraded on the old frame.

Then you still have a bike to ride while the other one is being fettled.

Cant seem to attach pics. It will get a respray at some point more than likely the same as it is now. Have had a price from Argos including new decals but was lots!!! Although I have used them in the past and their work is of a very high quality. The forks will go on soon and I already have the decals for those.

The frame number suggests a 94 model so i am not sure how the thummies came to be on there.

If anybody recognizes the bike and knows of its history then let me know. Back along, I did come across the ebay pics on here.

I am new to the orange brand, when I was in the trade I always had GT, Raleigh, Specialized, Trek, Cannondale and various others but always wanted a Clockwork and never worked in an Orange dealer.

Your suggestions please....
