Is this a 90's Orange Prestige?

Five pounds!
Yeah, or 50 Swedish krona, which is around £4 to be exact. But it looked like sh** in the ad and the seller obviously did not know what they had. Apparently someone had left it outside their house and they took it to the police but no one claimed so they got it back after a while.

Below is the picture from the ad. It had a horrid black spray paint job which I luckily could remove with paint stripper.

Mystery partially solved! The frame is identical to that of a Raleigh USA MT700 John Tamac Design Series. Look at the pictures below. Every key identifying detail is there:

-The special rear brake stop
-The wishbone seat stay
-The seam on the top tube and down tube where the rear steel triangle is joined with the aluminum front
-The top tube cable guides which are all on the right side
-Some matching components (Rockshox fork, Deore derailleur)

The one thing that does NOT match (other than obviously the colour) is the serial number. It does not match what Raleigh were using, and it does not match the format of the bike in the picture.

These images are taken from a post by @foxb13 on this forum: https://www.retrobike.co.uk/threads/94-raleigh-usa-mt700-rsi-inspection.425624/

So probably from the same manufacturer but supplied direct or to a different brand.
Did Raleigh USA have a manufacturing facility?

And if so, did it make the MT700 frame or buy it in?

I don't think raleigh Nottingham made this model, but there may be a raleigh expert to hand - or an email to raleigh to ask?

Are the stamps used for the frame numbers the same?

Yeah, I'm suspecting something like that too. I believe Raleigh USA had their own facility in Seattle, I read something like that somewhere.

The various markings on the bottom bracket have a similar layout(as can be seen in the other thread I linked to), but the actual serial number on mine is missing some letters and/or numbers.

So, I'm glad I'm one step closer but it still bugs me that I don't know the EXACT model and make. I want to put some decals on it, but I guess I wouldn't be too far off putting a Raleigh logo on it.
