What to do with a damaged Liyang Pro Carbon frame ?

Hi everyone, I have this Liyang lugged carbon frame that sadly at some point has had a repair attempted with a wood screw...

The top tube also moves slightly in its lugs so I assume the bonding has begun to fail.

Has anyone had anything like this repaired before? I'm considering just hangining it up on the wall as decoration.

Underside of the down tube.

I'd be concerned most about the woodscrew damaging the carbon :D , but at least it's inside the length of the internal lug.

On a repair..plenty of people have had Vitus and Alan frames re-bonded over the years. Have a search around.

The difficult bit would be separating the headtube. I would suspect that it was assembledHT/TT/DT together as a sub-assembly then TT/ST and DT/BB to finish the triangle.
Careful application of heat, such as boiling water or hot air gun should kill the bonding sufficiently to separate, but the expansion of the internal aluminium plug compared to the external carbon might burst it.

Clean up and re-bonding are easy as long as it's held in a fixture to maintain alignment.

All the best,

Re:

Don't mean to be a party pooper, but that really isn't worth repairing.

Repair cost will likely be £100 plus, which you would be better off putting towards a better frame - these weren't exceptional frames even before being broken.

how did you get on did you repair it? i have same frame with pretty much same issue top tube is loose on headtube

Or Pan Pipes.

I had the same problem with a Liyang frame, decided the effort/cost to repair wasn't worth it, and I'd never fully trust the frame again. Sold it as spares/repairs in the end, no idea if the new owner repaired it, or turned it into Pan Pipes 😁🤷🏼‍♂️
